Department of
Health Circular No. 72 series of 1994 directed the
conversion of the 600-bed Culion Sanitarium into a
general hospital.
The existing number of classrooms in elementary is 59
for academic and 9 for non-academic in 2003. the
Municipality still needs fourteen classrooms. For
primary, Cagayancillo have 499 existing number of desks
or chairs but they still need 614 pieces and 447
existing desks/chairs in the intermediate.
In 2002, Culion had eleven (11) barangays with Day Care
Center. There was twenty-six (26) Day Care Centers with
also twenty-six (26) day care workers for the
municipality. 571 children were served with a
participation rate of 36.23.
Culion have a total
number of 18 BEANS. Ten provincial funded and eight
municipal funded.
In Culion Poblacion alone, include 14 basketball courts
in the Municipality, seven volleyball courts, four
multipurpose centers, three public parks and three
playgrounds.
The PNP station in Culion is the main agency that
maintains peace and order in the Municipality. Including
the Station Commander, there were a total of six
officers assigned to the station. In April 2002, six
additional PNP officers were assigned to the station.
